Position Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate and creative Personal Care Staff Member to support our client, a vibrant individual with autism. This role involves aiding with daily living activities (ADLs) and encouraging our client to engage in community activities while respecting their preferences and comfort levels.

Responsibilities:

– Aid with daily living activities, including toileting, showering, dressing, and oral hygiene.

– Encourage physical activity through creative and engaging methods that cater to client’s interests, while ensuring her comfort and preferences are prioritized.

– Support client in making choices about activities, providing specific options, and encouraging her to participate.

– Foster a positive and respectful environment, allowing client to express her needs and preferences.

– Assist in developing and implementing fun and varied community outings that align with client’s interests.

– Monitor and respond to any challenging behaviors with patience and effective strategies, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.

– Communicate regularly with client’s parents and program manager to discuss her needs, preferences, and any changes in her routine.

– Always maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

Qualifications:

– Experience in personal care or support roles, particularly with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities.

– Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to encourage and motivate clients.

– Patience and understanding in handling challenging behaviors.

– Creativity in developing engaging activities that promote participation and enjoyment.

– Flexibility in scheduling, with availability for weekends, evenings, and some weekdays.

– Female staff preferred due to the nature of personal care assistance.

Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week

Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • Evening shift
  • Every weekend

Experience:

  • Caregiving: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • CPR Certification (Preferred)

Shift availability:

  • Day Shift (Preferred)
  • Night Shift (Preferred)

Ability to Commute:

  • Haverhill, MA (Required)
