Summary

The nurse will provide, supervise and document health care services to all residential individuals in a developmental disability home in accordance with appropriate state standards and standards of nursing practice.


Schedule

This is a 20 hours per week, hourly role. There is some flexibility in days/hours worked, which can be discussed, but it will be mandatory to be available every Wednesday from 10a-2p.


Educations and/or Experience

  • Nursing degree and current registration with Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.
  • Ability to teach health and medication skills to others.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • One year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • One year of experience in a community health setting.
  • Experience with individuals with psychiatric disabilities preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Employee is regularly required to talk, hear, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects and people and reach with hands and arms.
  • Employees will regularly lift and/or move consumers in and out of wheelchairs and vehicles, lift and/or move consumers up from, and down to, mats.
  • May intervene verbally and physically with consumers during behavioral incidents.

Work Environment

Generally, work will take place in an office or home environment. Occasionally, work may be performed in the community or at other locations. Due to the limitations of the individuals we serve, employees may be exposed to offensive language and body expressions. Employee needs to be able to cope with a work environment that may be suddenly stressful, at times.
