Position Summary
We are seeking a Director of Facilities to oversee the maintenance and upkeep of all The Arc of Plymouth and Upper Cape Cod properties. This leadership role involves managing the repair and maintenance activities across our facilities, ensuring that all properties are well-maintained, safe, and meet operational needs. The Director will develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules, perform light carpentry, plumbing, painting, and minor electrical repairs, and manage relationships with external contractors and vendors. Additionally, the Director will oversee maintenance budgets and inventory control, ensuring cost-effective operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Property Maintenance: Lead the ongoing maintenance and repairs for all properties owned or leased by The Arc of Plymouth and Upper Cape Cod.
- Preventative Maintenance: Develop and maintain a comprehensive preventative maintenance schedule for all agency properties to ensure timely upkeep.
- Property Inspections: Implement and manage regular property inspections to proactively identify and address potential issues.
- Repairs and Upkeep: Oversee light carpentry, painting, plumbing, and minor electrical repairs to maintain the functionality and appearance of the facilities.
- Vendor & Contractor Management: Coordinate and manage relationships with external contractors, vendors, and service providers to ensure quality work and adherence to schedules.
- Cost Control: Solicit and review repair cost estimates, monitor maintenance expenses, and manage equipment and inventory to control costs.
- Record Keeping: Maintain detailed maintenance logs and reports of daily, weekly, and monthly activities.
- Team Leadership: Lead and support the maintenance team, ensuring effective collaboration and adherence to safety and quality standards.

- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment with the team.
- Participate in mandatory in-services, safety training, and professional development sessions.
- Perform other duties as assigned based on business needs.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: 3+ years of general maintenance experience required, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of plumbing, carpentry, electrical systems, HVAC, and hand tools.
- Experience with maintenance equipment such as small power tools, lawnmowers, and trimmers.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards.
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work safely with cleaning supplies and potentially hazardous materials.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Working Conditions
- Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
- Some tasks may require working at heights (on ladders).
- Occasional exposure to chemicals and cleaning supplies.
- No direct supervisory responsibilities over other employees (beyond team coordination).
