Recreation Direct Support Professional

ob Title: Recreation Program Relief Staff FLSA Status: Non exempt

Position Summary: The Arc of Opportunity is actively seeking part–time / per diem staff to join our Saturday Recreation’s relief staff pool. Recreation relief staff work when they have the availability to pick-up an available Saturday shift.

Location: Fitchburg, Massachusetts (and surrounding communities)

Hours: Per diem. Saturdays from 11-4 or 10-5/6, depending on the day’s activities.

Rate: $19.50

Essential Functions:

• Support Recreation Program Coordinator and participants during the Saturday outings into the community. These include outings to sporting events, museums, restaurants, arts and crafts venues, etc.
• Conducts oneself professionally by maintaining respect, following regulations and agency policies and adhering to confidentiality requirements in all assigned duties
• Attends mandatory trainings and meetings as assigned and required.
• Demonstrates knowledge of and commitment to agency mission and fundamental values
• Frequent driving of facility motor vehicles and vans
• Additional duties as assigned
• Physical demands include: Frequent standing, pushing, pulling, walking, stooping, lifting and twisting

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED is required, experience in relevant field preferred
• A valid driver’s license and acceptable CORI/Finger printing and driving record are required at all times during employment with The Arc of Opportunity.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.; kneel, bend and carry items; and sustain periods of walking, standing, and sitting
• Ability to physically assist individuals according to their needs
• Ability to sustain periods of walking, standing, and sitting.

Mental Requirements:

• Demonstrated superior communication skills, both in verbal and written English
• Functional and situational reasoning to follow policy, problem solve, exercise sound judgment, prioritize multiple tasks, and manage crisis
