For over 50 years, The Arc of Plymouth And Upper Cape Cod has been dedicated to advocating for, empowering, and supporting individuals with disabilities and their families. Our mission is to help people belong, contribute, and thrive in their communities. We provide services to approximately 1,000 individuals with developmental disabilities and their families in the Plymouth and Upper Cape region.
About the Role:
As a Shared Living Provider, you will open your home and heart to an individual with a disability. This is not simply a caregiving position—it’s an opportunity to serve as an advocate, mentor, and guide, helping individuals lead independent, fulfilling lives. You will support the person you care for integrate fully into both their home and community, promoting self-sufficiency, dignity, and quality of life.
While a background in human services, social work, or psychology is beneficial, it is not required. We value compassion, commitment, and a willingness to make a positive impact on the lives of others.
Key Responsibilities:
- Room and Board: Provide a safe, nurturing living environment.
- Personalized Support: Offer comprehensive care and advocacy in line with the individual’s support plan, ensuring their needs and preferences are met according to state and federal guidelines.
- Transportation: Provide transportation or arrange transportation for medical appointments, social activities, and community participation.
- Coordination of Care: Help coordinate medical appointments, recreational activities, and involvement in local events.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Reliable vehicle and the ability to pass a driving record check.
- Successful completion of comprehensive background checks (applies to all adults in the household).
- Ability to complete required training (e.g., CPR and First Aid).
- Willingness and ability to follow treatment and care plans.
- Consistency in following organizational guidelines and regulations.
- Effective communication skills to work with the Agency and other stakeholders.
- A spare room available in your home for the individual.
