Program Director

Program Directors are responsible for the overall functioning of individual CRC homes, training, supervision and scheduling of support staff, development and implementation of the individuals ISPs and programs, provision of direct-care and supervision to individuals, coordination of medical services and follow-up, and rotational on-call duties. Program Directors are responsible for operating a CRC home under the principles of Normalization and in accordance with the principles and policies illustrated in the Charles River Community Living Program Policies and Procedures Manual. Since some individuals require personal care involving lifting and transfers in and out of wheelchairs, Program Directors of some homes must be physically able to perform this function.

Program Directors II are responsible for the overall functioning of the Associations most intensively staffed/most clinically involved homes.

 

 

ESSENTIAL PROGRAM DUTIES (other duties may be assigned):

Develop, implement and review ISPs. Formally and informally respond to needs, desires and interests of individuals.

Supervise and direct daily staff activities. Mobilize staff to achieve goals. Build a team environment.

Case management and delegation of case management to appropriate staff. Implement plans collaboratively and expeditiously.

Provide direct care support. Instruct, assist & supervise individuals in the areas of personal care, adaptive equipment, education skills, social skills, nutrition & meal preparation, community inclusion, travel training, individual funds, self-preservation, and religious practice if desired, etc.

Coordinate consultation, program development, implementation, data collection and analysis for individuals in need of Positive Behavioral Supports.

Demonstrate effective use of Positive Behavioral Supports.

Demonstrate willingness and ability to provide physical behavioral intervention as needed.

Coordinate referrals to other specialists as individually appropriate.

Facilitate support services such as SSI, SSDI, SSA, Medicaid, Medicare, etc. Match supports and

interventions to the unique needs of the individual.

Assist individuals seeking alternate living arrangements. Follow-up with individuals who have moved.

Participate in human resources functions per established procedures: recruit, interview, hire, orientate, train, supervise, appraise performance and recommend merit increases for staff.

Organize staff work schedules. Ensure adequate residence coverage at all times.

Coordinate regular staff meetings; disseminate information and solicit input regarding events, progress, and problems of individuals and home; develop reasonable methods for problem-solving.

Meet with Manager of Community Living regularly and as serious situations arise to discuss residential issues and to recommend solutions.

Maintain required residence documentation: House and individual Logs, progress notes, service agreements, status agreements, semi-annual reviews, house records, receipts, documents, house correspondence and monthly reports, etc.

Provide weekend emergency on-call services on a rotational basis.

With individuals and support staff input, coordinate social, leisure, educational and developmental activities.

Understand & advocate individuals human rights, legal rights, administrative and financial issues. Use effective advocacy strategies to overcome challenges.

Ensure well-balanced and nutritious meals, including individuals in the selection, purchase and preparation of grocery items.

See that the home is well maintained and adequately supplied. Perform housekeeping tasks as necessary. Request additional funds and resources if needed.

Maintain cooperative communication with other service providers, advocates, family members and guardians. Maintain good public relations with the community.

Designate a Human Rights Officer for the home; act as HRO in his/her absence.

Attend in-services and other trainings. Identify areas for self-improvement, pursue necessary training/educational resources & share knowledge with others.

Implement and maintain the standards, regulations and requirements of the Department of Mental Retardation and other agencies; participate in the annual DDS QUEST Review of the home; promptly implement any Plan of Correction.

Provide coverage to other CRC homes as assigned or as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Management: Supports and enforces agency policies and objectives; sets example through personal conduct and performance.

Data collection: Collects data, compiles information and prepares reports in a timely and accurate fashion.
